Our Drone Mapping Services

orthomosaic map

2D Orthomosaic Mapping Survey-grade 2D aerial maps stitched from hundreds of high-resolution drone images. Georeferenced and measurable, suitable for planning submissions, boundary assessments, land measurement and progress monitoring. Delivered in formats compatible with AutoCAD, GIS and standard image viewers. Ideal for: construction site monitoring · agricultural field mapping · estate boundary surveys · environmental baseline mapping · planning applications · enforcement evidence

3D Terrain Mapping & Point Clouds Detailed 3D surface models capturing elevation changes, topographic features, vegetation height and terrain complexity. Essential for drainage design, infrastructure planning and volumetric calculations. Ideal for: flood risk assessments · earthworks and cut-and-fill calculations · watercourse mapping · highway and infrastructure projects · land development feasibility

Digital Elevation Models (DEM / DSM / DTM)High-accuracy surface and terrain models derived from drone photogrammetry. Used by engineers, planners and environmental consultants to understand ground conditions before committing to costly design work.

Volumetric Measurement Accurate stockpile, earthworks and land volume calculations using drone mapping data. Faster and more cost-effective than manual survey, and easily repeatable to track change over time.

GIS-Ready Data Outputs All mapping data delivered in industry-standard formats including GeoTIFF, LAS/LAZ point cloud, OBJ and B3DM.

Our 3d modelling & digital twin Services

Photorealistic 3D Building & Structure Models High-resolution, textured 3D models of buildings, structures, monuments and facades — accurate enough for measurement, detailed enough for publication. Created from drone imagery using photogrammetric processing, capturing every surface feature, condition issue and architectural detail without scaffolding, ladders or access equipment. Ideal for: listed buildings · historic churches and abbeys · industrial heritage · commercial buildings · residential developments · bridges and infrastructure

Digital Twins A precise, measurable 3D replica of your building or site that can be updated over time as conditions change. Used by facilities managers, estate owners and construction teams to manage assets, plan maintenance, track change and reduce the need for physical site visits. Ideal for: large estates · commercial property portfolios · construction programmes · infrastructure assets · heritage buildings in active use

3D Terrain & Landscape Models Detailed 3D models of landforms, topography and landscape features derived from drone surveys. Essential for drainage planning, flood risk assessment, earthworks design and environmental baseline recording.

Fly-Through Animations & Visualisations Cinematic fly-through videos produced from 3D model data — used for planning presentations, public consultations, heritage interpretation, grant applications, marketing and stakeholder engagement.

BIM-Ready Outputs 3D model data prepared for integration into Building Information Modelling (BIM) workflows, including georeferenced point clouds, mesh models and structured data compatible with major BIM platforms. Store progress documents, safety certificates, inspection reports, images and site plans in one centralised location, and use the model to verify legal compliance — for example confirming planned disabled access or sharing building information to support Martyn's Law requirements. Ideal for: construction projects requiring BIM Level 2 compliance · asset management · refurbishment and retrofit planning · infrastructure management

Combined Drone & Interior Models Where full building capture is required, we combine exterior drone photogrammetry with interior laser scanning to give you a complete inside-and-out model — letting you "step inside" or "take the roof off" digitally. Ideal for complex heritage properties, large commercial buildings and infrastructure assets.

Why Choose DroneS for Mapping & modelling Over Traditional S

3D Map/ Model

Traditional ground survey methods are time-consuming, expensive and often impractical — particularly on large, complex or hazardous sites. Drone mapping changes the economics and the timeline.

  • Speed — large sites surveyed in      hours, not days; data delivered within days of the flight
  • Accuracy — sub-5cm precision      achievable using RTK positioning and GCPs, meeting engineering and      planning standards
  • Safety — no surveyors working at      height or in hazardous areas; drones access restricted zones safely
  • Cost — significantly cheaper than      traditional topographic survey for medium to large sites
  • Repeatability — the same area can be      re-flown at any point to track progress, change or damage
  • Versatility — one flight can produce 2D      maps, 3D models, elevation data and high-resolution imagery simultaneously
  • Shareability — digital outputs can be      shared instantly with consultants, planners, contractors or stakeholders

What you can do with 3D Models, Maps & Twins

clients looking at a 3d model on screen

A 3D model from Image Surveys isn't a one-use deliverable. Clients put their models to work to:

  • Plan and communicate alterations, extensions or conservation repairs before a single tool is lifted
  • Share detailed building data with engineers, architects and contractors remotely, reducing site visits and travel costs
  • Present proposals to planning committees or public consultations using fly-through animations
  • Support heritage fund and grant applications with high-quality photographic and dimensional evidence
  • Overlay additional data layers — CAD drawings, utility routes, environmental plans, safety information
  • Document escape routes, fire safety information and emergency access for operational buildings
  • Monitor structural change, settlement or deterioration over time through repeat surveys
  • Create visitor-facing content for heritage attractions, museums and interpretation centres
  • Reconstruct a site after a disaster — the kind of detailed record that proved invaluable following the Notre Dame fire
  • Train staff or brief  contractors without requiring access to the physical building

About Image Surveys

Frequently asked questions about drone mapping and 3D modell

man looking at a 3D map on screen

What is the difference between 2D mapping and 3D modelling? 2D mapping produces flat, georeferenced orthomosaic maps you can measure and use for planning and boundaries. 3D modelling produces measurable three-dimensional models of sites or buildings, including terrain models, photorealistic building models and digital twins.

What accuracy can you achieve with drone mapping? Using RTK satellite positioning and Ground Control Points we can achieve survey-grade accuracy, commonly sub-5cm. The right level of accuracy depends on your project, so it is best discussed before booking.

What is a digital twin? A digital twin is a precise, measurable 3D replica of a building or site that can be updated over time. It lets you manage assets, plan maintenance, share information and reduce site visits.

What file formats do you deliver maps and models in? We deliver data in industry-standard formats compatible with CAD, GIS and BIM workflows, including orthomosaic imagery, point clouds, 3D mesh models and digital elevation models.

How long does a drone mapping survey take? Most sites are captured in a single visit, often within hours, with processed data and outputs typically delivered within a few working days of the flight.
