Modern farming demands faster, more precise decisions. Whether you are managing hundreds of acres of arable land in Lancashire, running a mixed estate in Cheshire or overseeing hill farming in Cumbria, the pressure to reduce costs, maximise yields and meet environmental obligations has never been greater.
Drone surveys give you a clear, accurate aerial picture of your land in hours rather than days — without walking every field, hiring ground survey teams or waiting weeks for results. Image Surveys is a CLA corporate member and understands the practical realities of farm and estate management. We deliver the data you need, in formats you can act on immediately, at a price that makes sense for agricultural budgets.

Crop Monitoring & Health Assessment High-resolution aerial imagery and multispectral scanning identify crop stress, pest damage, poor germination and uneven growth across your fields — often weeks before problems become visible on the ground. Early detection means faster intervention, reduced losses and better yield outcomes at harvest. Large arable areas across Lancashire and Cheshire can be assessed in a single flight, eliminating the need for lengthy field walks.
Drainage Mapping & Water Management Poor drainage costs North West farmers significant money every year in lost yield, soil damage and input waste. Our drone surveys identify waterlogged areas, surface drainage patterns and problem zones across your fields with precision. That data goes straight to your drainage contractor or agronomist, helping you prioritise investment where it will make the biggest difference.
Farm & Land Boundary Mapping Accurate 2D maps and 3D terrain models of your entire farm — fields, hedgerows, watercourses, access tracks, woodland and buildings — provide an invaluable management tool. Know exactly what you own, where boundaries sit, and how your land lies. Particularly useful for tenancy disputes, land sales, planning applications and Rural Payments Agency reporting.
Farm Building & Roof Inspections Barns, grain stores, silage clamps, machinery sheds and farmhouses all require regular inspection. Our drones safely survey roofs, gutters, walls and structural elements without ladders, scaffolding or working at height — reducing risk to your team and delivering detailed condition reports that support maintenance planning, insurance claims and planning applications.
Environmental & Stewardship Scheme Support Agri-environment schemes, Countryside Stewardship and Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) applications increasingly require accurate evidence of land condition, habitat extent and management activity. Our aerial mapping provides the clear visual documentation that Natural England, the Rural Payments Agency and scheme auditors need — making compliance reporting faster and more reliable.
Flood & Storm Damage Assessment Available 24/7 for emergency callout, our drones can rapidly assess flood damage, storm damage to farm buildings and erosion to watercourses or field margins across Lancashire and Cheshire. Fast assessment means faster insurance claims and faster recovery.
Livestock & Infrastructure Monitoring Track field conditions, water trough locations, fencing integrity and livestock movement across large areas without time-consuming ground checks. Particularly useful for extensive grazing systems, hill farms in Cumbria and large mixed estates.

Aerial Farm Mapping Detailed 2D orthomosaic maps and 3D terrain models of farmland, estates and rural properties. Accurate to survey grade, sharable with agronomists, planners and land agents.
Crop Health Surveys RGB imaging to assess crop vigour, identify stress zones and support precision agriculture decisions. Compatible with farm management software and agronomist reporting.
Drainage & Flood Risk Survey Identification of waterlogged areas, surface drainage issues, blocked watercourses and flood risk zones across farmland. Includes post-flood damage assessment with emergency callout available.
Boundary & Land Classification Surveys Accurate measurement of field boundaries, hedgerows, woodland blocks and land use areas for RPA reporting, tenancy agreements and land sales.
Farm Building Inspections Safe drone inspections of barns, roofs, silos, towers and outbuildings. Condition reports suitable for insurance, planning and maintenance planning.
Environmental Baseline Surveys Habitat mapping, hedgerow assessment and biodiversity baseline reports to support Countryside Stewardship, SFI applications and Biodiversity Net Gain requirements.
Volumetric Surveys (3D Modelling) Accurate measurement of grain stores, silage clamps, muck heaps and aggregate stockpiles without manual measurement or specialist access equipment.
Future Services We are building a bespoke farm management system using drone mapping and baseline soil surveys to allow you to mee the challenge of future carbon and sustainability reporting

Lancashire and Cheshire are two of England's most agriculturally productive counties — from the arable plains of the Fylde coast and the dairy country of the Cheshire plain, to the upland grazing farms of the Forest of Bowland and the market gardens of the Mersey valley. Cumbria's extensive hill farms and North Wales's mixed livestock country add further variety to the agricultural landscape we serve.
Image Surveys is based in Southport and works regularly across this region. We know the terrain, the farming systems and the practical constraints that North West farmers face — and we tailor every survey to deliver the data that actually matters for your operation.
We work across: Preston · Lancaster · Blackpool · Blackburn · Burnley · Chester · Crewe · Macclesfield · Warrington · Wigan · Carlisle · Kendal · Barrow-in-Furness · North Wales

How long does a farm drone survey take? For a typical 100-acre farm, a full mapping survey can be completed in a single day including flight operations and initial data processing. Larger estates are usually completed within two to three days depending on terrain and conditions.
What data formats do you deliver? We deliver orthomosaic maps, georeferenced Geo TIFF files, PDF condition reports, 3D model files and annotated imagery. All data can be shared digitally and is compatible with common farm management and GIS software.
Do you need special permission to fly over farmland? All our pilots hold CAA operational authorisation. We manage all flight planning, landowner permissions and risk assessments as part of the service. You do not need to do anything other than confirm access to the site.
Can you survey in wet or windy conditions? We monitor conditions carefully and reschedule if weather would compromise data quality or safety. Most agricultural surveys are completed between March and October for optimum results, though emergency callouts operate year-round.
How much does an agricultural drone survey cost? Costs depend on the size of the site and the services required. We provide fixed-price quotes before any work begins. Call 0800 999 1295 for a free no-obligation quote tailored to your farm.
Whether you need a one-off crop health check, a full baseline survey of your estate or an emergency flood damage assessment, our team is ready to help.
